Cristiano Ronaldo joined Real Madrid from Manchester United on July 6 2009, and the rest as they say, is history!
450 goals, 132 assists, 16 trophies including 4 Champions Leagues and 2 Laliga titles, 4 Ballon d'ors, multiple individual awards, and countless memories. Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest player to ever play for the Los Blancos.
Ronaldo had joined a struggling Real Madrid side lacking trophies from Manchester United side that had won 3 consecutive Premier leagues and reached UCL final two times in the past two seasons while winning it once.
Let us look at Cristiano Ronaldo's achievements with Real Madrid in detail season by season
SEASON 09/10
It was Ronaldo's first season with the Los Blancos, so it took him some time to settle, but his season was still better than many players.
Laliga: Ronaldo scored 26 goals and 10 assists in the league, and was third in the pichichi race behind Messi(34 goals) and Higuain(27 goals) while Real finished (96 points) behind Barcelona (99 points) with only 3 points.
UCL: Ronaldo scored 7 goals and gave 1 assist and was second top scorer behind Messi (8 goals) while Real Madrid took a strange exit from UCL in RO16 against Lyon (1:2) and Real Madrid had an underwhelming season.
SEASON 10/11
Laliga: Ronaldo won the pichichi trophy this time with 40 goals and also gave 13 assists while Messi (31 goals) was second in the pichichi race. Although Barcelona (96 points) went on to defend their title and won the Laliga while Real Madrid (92 points) came second.
UCL: Ronaldo scored 6 goals and gave 4 assists while he was 5th top scorer and had an underwhelming individual season while Real Madrid reached Semi-finals this time and lost to Barcelona (3:1) over the two legs.
Copa Del Rey: Ronaldo scored 7 goals and gave 1 assist and was joint top scorer with Leo Messi while Real Madrid went on to win CDR in the final against Barcelona with the iconic extra time header from Ronaldo from the Di Maria's cross.
SEASON 11/12
Laliga: The most iconic Laliga season that came under Jose Mourinho. You can check out our blog on "The Mourinho Era" here. Let's get back on Ronaldo here, Ronaldo scored 46 goals, yes, 46 GOALS! and still finished second in pichichi race behind Messi (50 goals), while Ronaldo also gave 14 assists in the league. Real Madrid finished on top of Laliga with a record 100 points, 9 points ahead of second placed Barcelona (91 points).
UCL: Ronaldo scored 10 goals and gave 3 assists and finished as 3rd top scorer behind Leo Messi (14) and Mario Gomez (12). While Real Madrid yet again, got knocked out in Semi-finals against Bayern Munich on penalties.
Copa Del Rey: Ronaldo scored 3 goals in CDR and Real Madrid lost to Barcelona in the Quarter Finals of CDR.
(Cristiano Ronaldo's statement after the loss against Bayern Munich was that he owes Madrid fans a Champions League final and he won't fail. And we know the rest!)
SEASON 12/13
Laliga: Ronaldo scored 34 goals and gave 11 assists and finished second in pichichi race behind Messi (46 goals) while Real Madrid (85 points) finished 2nd in Laliga behind Barcelona (100 points)
UCL: Ronaldo was the top scorer of the Champions League with 12 goals, while Real Madrid reached the Semi-finals of the Champions League and got knocked out yet again by a German team but this time Robert Lewandowski's Dortmund. Lewandowski scored 4 goals in the Semi-finals and gave one of the most remarkable performances of Champions League and helped their team reach the Final.
Copa Del Rey: Ronaldo was the 2nd top scorer of Copa Del Rey with 7 goals behind Diego Costa (8) and Real Madrid also went on to lose the CDR against Atletico Madrid in the Finals.
Supercopa: Real Madrid won the Supercopa against Barcelona in which Ronaldo scored 2 goals over the both legs.
SEASON 13/14
Laliga: Ronaldo scored 31 goals and gave 11 assists for Real Madrid and was the top scorer in the pichichi race while Atletico Madrid (90 points) won the Laliga title ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona (both 87 points).
UCL: This season was a turning point in UCL for Ronaldo and Real Madrid. As Ronaldo scored 17 goals (most in a UCL season) and gave 5 assists and overall 22 g+a in 11 UCL games. Real Madrid went on to win the Champions League season against Atletico Madrid in the final (score 4-1). The score of the UCL final doesn't tell you the whole story of the match. Real Madrid were behind almost the whole match due to Diego Godin's goal, but in came Sergio Ramos' most iconic goal to the Luka Modric's corner on the exact 92:48 of the stoppage time. Then the game went to extra time and with the goals of Bale, Marcelo and Ronaldo's 17th goal, Real Madrid went on to win the Champions league for the then record 10th time. This Champions League victory is also known as 'La Decima' which means 'the tenth' in honor of the tenth UCL trophy.
Copa Del Rey: Ronaldo had a normal performance in Cooa Del Rey with 3 goals. But real Real Madrid went on to win the Copa Del Rey as well that year. In the Finals against Barcelona, Di Maria scored the opener for Real Madrid in the first half which was later equalized by Marc Bartra in the second half. But in the 85th minute, Gareth Bale turned into Usain Bolt and scored one of the most iconic goals in his career sprinting from the halfway line all the way leaving Marc Bartra way behind and scoring through the legs of the goalkeeper, this goal had it all.
Real Madrid got qualified and won the UEFA Club World cup and UEFA SuperCup after the UCL victory.
SEASON 14/15
This was best individual season of Ronaldo in Laliga, and yet he was unfortunate to not to win the Laliga!
Laliga: Ronaldo scored 48 goals in Laliga and also gave 17 assists and was the top scorer in pichichi race ahead of Leo Messi (43 goals) and Neymar Jr. (22 goals). But Real Madrid (92 points) finished second in Laliga race to Barcelona(94 points) in a really tight title race.
UCL: Ronaldo was the joint top scorer in UCL with 10 goals alongside Messi and Neymar. Real Madrid lost in the Semi-finals of UCL narrowly to Juventus (3:2) over the two legs.
SEASON 15/16
Laliga: Ronaldo scored 35 goals in Laliga and assisted 11 times in the league, and was second in pichichi race behind Luis Suarez (40 goals) and again Real Madrid (90 points) missed out the league in a really close title race to Barcelona (91 points) although there were some speculations that Barcelona were favored by the referees when the title race got close, but it's okay, referees are human too, they too make mistakes. But it did cost us a title.
UCL: In the Champions League, Ronaldo was the top scorer with 16 goals (his second best season) and also gave 4 assists and was alone on top with Robert Lewandowski being 2nd top goal scorer with just 9 goals. Ronaldo had some iconic moments this season like the hattrick vs Wolfsburg after a 2-0 loss in the first leg and he helped Real Madrid to take them to semi finals with that hattrick. Madrid won the Champions League that season in the Final against Atletico Sergio Ramos scored the opening goal once again for Real Madrid which was equalized by Carassco and then the game went on to penalties. Real Madrid's penalty takers were Lucas Vasquez, Marcelo, Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo in that order. All the 4 players before Ronaldo scored their respective penalties and the same was case for Atletico. Then Juanfran missed his penalty and Ronaldo had the chance to seal the victory and he took it just perfect. Sending Oblak to the wrong side. Ronaldo helped Real Madrid win their 11th Champions League title.
Real Madrid also won the Club worldcup and the Uefa Supercup following the UCL.
2016/17
This was arguably the best season for Real Madrid trophy wise. It wasn't the best for Ronaldo trophy wise. But Real Madrid managed to win a lot of trophies this season.
Laliga: Ronaldo scored 25 goals in the league and was 3rd top scorer behind Suarez (37 goals) and Messi (28 goals). But Real Madrid (93 points) won the Laliga league title ahead of Barcelona (90 points)
UCL: Ronaldo had a slow start in this UCL campaign. He had scored only 2 goals until the RO16 while Messi was at the top with 11 goals. But then Ronaldo scored 10 goals in 5 games, with scoring 5 goals against Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich) in the two legs of Quarter-Final, A hattrick against Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid) in the Semi-final and a brace against Gigi Buffon in the Final and Real Madrid went on to defend their Champions League title and won it the 12th time.
Copa Del Rey: Ronaldo only played 2 games and had an underwhelming performance as Real Madrid got knocked out in the Quarter-Final.
Real madrid also won the Club worldcup and UEFA SuperCup while Ronaldo scored 2 goals in the CWC.
2017-18
This was the last season of Cristiano Ronaldo with Real Madrid. Both of them had a beautiful journey together. A journey which will go down as one of the most iconic in history.
Laliga: Ronaldo scored 26 goals and gave 5 assists and was second in pichichi race behind Leo Messi (34 goals). Real Madrid (76 points) had an underwhelming performance in Laliga as they finished behind Barcelona (93 points) and Atletico Madrid (79 points)
UCL: Ronaldo once again had a spectacular season individually and scored 15 goals and gave 3 assists in the UCL and was the top scorer yet again. Ronaldo had some iconic moments this season too, he became the first player to score in all six group stage games of UCL. In RO16 against PSG, Real Madrid were considered inferior to them while PSG were considered the top UCL candidates. But with Ronaldo's 3 goals over the two legs.. Real Madrid went past PSG easily. In the Quarter-Final, Ronaldo scored the most iconic goal of his career against Juventus. His bicycle kick against Juventus in their stadium was even applauded by Juventus fans. Real Madrid went on to win the Champions league third time consecutively thanks to Gareth Bale's Masterclass in the Final against Liverpool. Real Madrid became the first and only team to win the Champions League 3 times consecutive. This is the reason this Real Madrid side is also known as the "Three-peat side".
Supercopa: Real Madrid were against Barcelona in the Supercopa and won 5:1 over the period of two legs. Ronaldo scored a spectacular goal in the first leg, leaving Gerard Pique on the floor and had an iconic celebration after removing his jersey which also became the reason for his second yellow (red) card. But Real Madrid won the Supercopa against Barcelona.
This was Ronaldo's last season as Real Madrid player. He will go down as the biggest legend to ever play for Real Madrid.
He gave us so many memories. From being in the best counter attacking team under Mourinho. Being in Ancelloti's La Decima squad. To being the integral part of the BBC trio under Zidane, he was the main player for the team.
He will go down as the one of the if not the best players in history and arguably the best player to ever play for the Los Blancos.
